Loon's tunes cast pterodactyl shadows. The guttural guitars travel at the speed of Swans, languidly pounding out metal blasts that would make Sir Lord Baltimore scared. Edward has eschewed all song structure in favor of avant-garde soundscapes. The word "soundscapes" is almost a dirty word in most cases, but EKS attacks sound like a master sculptor, freeing unique and surprising sonic forms from the ether. He brilliantly decoupages electronics with emotional otherness, punctuated by disembodied voices that bubble up from the beyond. Seven That Spells spells CROATIVITY. Zagreb's heavy sons drill Krautrock a new arsehole with lofty, wailing, epic thunder hymns to the new cosmos. "Rock Is Krieg" says it all, especially coming from a place blackened by real war in recent times. The beauty of STS's take on prog is that it is actually progressive, in the sense that their extended, rumbling anthems express both aggression and spirituality. They translate the old Teutonic ways into a stoner/doomy metallic patois that should put the likes of Boris and such on notice.

The album title certainly does not deceive. But there is something absolutely worthy about Baker's approach to drone composition. He employs a subtle, patient counterpoint that offers an appealing spaciousness when played loud. The music is utterly enveloping, seemingly forcing the listener into a meditative state (Do not operate heavy equipment while listening, unless that heavy equipment is speakers or a spaceship).
